March 18-21
I was here for one A and B day and had a substitute for one A and B day during this time.
Utah Studies: On the day I was here students took notes on economics and bartering and we did a simulation on a bartering economy. Steps 5, 7, and 8 of the road trip should have been turned in. Make sure you're on track to get your final road trip turned in by next week! When the substitute was here they finished their book work in their economics packet and read from chapter 10.
Drawing: Students chose one of their rough drafts to turn into a final for the Navajo sand painting project and started working on the final. When the sub was here students worked on the doodle for google submission.

March 12-13
Utah Studies: We are having a catch up day for step 7 of the road trip. Students who are done have free time or can earn arrow cards by helping their classmates who are not caught up.
Drawing: I introduced sand art. We watched videos on Buddist monks, Joe Mangrum, and Tony Plant creating sand art. We looked at a powerpoint on Native American sand art and they filled out art history notes along with the powerpoint. On the back they free wrote on what in their life they would heal with a sand painting and started sketching some ideas of what their sand painting could look like.

Utah Studies:
We worked on steps 5, 8, and 9 of the road trip--making an iPod playlist, packing list and cover. Some students chose to do the cover at home on the computer rather than draw it. On Monday, for the extra A day, we will have a catch up day.
Drawing:
We learned about environmental art and watched video clips on two environmental artists, Andy Goldsworthy and Vik Muniz. Students got in groups, went outside and created their own environmental artwork. For the extra A day on Monday we will have a catch up day.
